A Moment with ... Jay

What was your childhood ambition?
To be a nurse or a scientist – very nerdy and predictable given the family traits.

What do you love most about your job?
Meeting loads of interesting people who have put a healthy lifestyle on the agenda.

If you weren’t working as the Admin and Customer Service Guru, where would you be?
Probably still working with databases and electronic courtrooms – good pay but the hours were a killer – and the people not as nice!

What job have you had in the past that is very different to what you do now?
My first job was “would you like fries with that”, and the shortest job was debt collecting for a funeral company. Both directly opposite of what I do now, but both had a certain flow from one to the other – karma’s joke.

What is the strangest thing you have ever had to do at work?
Come to grips with Heidi’s bad techno vibe – I had heard of people like this before but never really believed it.

Apart from keeping healthy, what are your favourite pastimes?
I like to draw – which was a surprising discovery during a photography course. I am not a good photographer.

Name 2 people, dead or alive, that you would invite to a dinner party and why?
Hamish and Andy – they seem like such nice boys. Not a mean thing to say about anyone else in their comedy skits, and of course, just very funny.

What is your ideal holiday location?
At home with a butler, a housekeeper and a cook for a couple of weeks. Then I could be a tourist in Sydney and get to sit on my own sofa for once, and the freezer and fridge would be full and ready to go for the next month.

What is your favourite movie?
‘As It Is In Heaven’ - foreign, but just soooo beautiful to watch.

Who do you find inspiring?
People who use their imaginations to motivate, inspire and find solutions to seemingly unsolvable problems big and small. I see it in operation with my kids every day.
